History of Microblading

The technique of implanting pigment after the creation of fine incisions in the skin may date back thousands of years, but the trend towards using the technique for eyebrows is thought to have emerged in Asia within the last 25 years. Little else is known about the history of microblading. It had become the most popular method of cosmetic eyebrow tattooing in Europe and the United States by 2015, and new techniques such as 1D, 3D, and even 6D have emerged.

Is it similar with a Tattoo?

The microblading procedure is a semi-permanent tattoo. Like all tattoos, microblading can fade, depending on multiple factors, including quality of pigment/ink used, UV exposure, elements found in skincare products, medications. The treatment lasts from one to two years. A touch-up session is encouraged 6 weeks after the first microblading procedure and every 12-18 months thereafter.

Have Questions, Want to Learn More about Microblading?  Who can you Trust?

Minnesota Brow Lash Studio & Academy Specializes in Microblading - located in Edina, Minnesota is here to guide you through this decision.  Here’s what we do:

The process of a Microblading treatment starts with a consultation to discuss the client’s expectations. Our expert artist will then design the brows using a wax pencil to create the shape and look that the client desires.  Once the client approves the design, the artist will begin the Microblading process.

We offer an anesthetic topical for client’s who may have sensitivity issues or prefer the numbing affect. We then use a precise cosmetic tool to create amazing thin hair strokes on the top layer (epidermis) of the skin. This crafted hair stroke is approximately the diameter of human hair. Typically, the blade diameter ranges from 0.14mm- 0.25mm. The most popular size is 0.18mm. This will create a 0.18mm cut into the skin.

A special cosmetically designed microblading pigment is applied into each blade cut. The below pictures show the process from shape design, Microblading process and result. The end goal of this process I s to create realistic looking ‘hair’ into the client’s natural brows.

The artist will design fuller brows while preserving a natural look. The artist will be very aware the client’s skin depth and the ethnic background to ensure the integrity of the client’s skin during and after the treatment.

The healed result will be attained approximately 3-4 weeks after the treatment. The healed result will be approximately 40%-50% lighter in tone and 10%-20% smaller in size versus the day of the treatment. The client will need to come back for a perfection/touch up session. During the perfection/touch up session, the artist will study how the client’s brows have healed. In some cases, the client’s brows may not need a touch up. It depends upon each client’s bodily healing process and aftercare. However, some clients may need a touch up which includes: adding more hair strokes, adjustments to the color tone, or maybe adjusting the shape and symmetry of the brows.
